INVENERGY’S ALLE-CATT AND CANISTEO WIND PROJECTS AWARDED NEW YORK CONTRACT IN RENEWABLE ENERGY SOLICITATION
Wind energy centers will generate 590 MW of clean energy and $14.8 million in annual local economic investment
NEW YORK, NY (December 3, 2024) — Invenergy, the leading privately held developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions, announced today that its Alle-Catt Wind and Canisteo Wind Energy Centers have been awarded renewable energy contracts by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The award represents a significant milestone for both projects, bringing Alle-Catt Wind and Canisteo Wind one step closer to delivering clean, locally sourced energy to New Yorkers and setting the stage for substantial contributions to the state’s renewable energy goals.
“This announcement ensures Alle-Catt Wind and Canisteo Wind will add 590 megawatts of new clean energy to New York’s electric grid, enough to power 247,000 homes each year, and generate an estimated $14.8 million in direct annual economic investment to communities across the Empire State, said James J. Murphy, Senior Vice President, Renewable Development at Invenergy. “As we work to achieve cleaner, more reliable energy for New York it is essential to advance additional renewable projects through the Climate Act, from development to construction and operations. We thank Governor Hochul and NYSERDA for their continued commitment to achieving New York’s energy goals.”
Alle-Catt Wind is located in Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Wyoming Counties and will generate 340 megawatts of energy. Canisteo Wind, located in Steuben County, will generate 250 megawatts of energy. Both projects are expected to begin operations in the next few years, with Alle-Catt Wind becoming operational in late 2026.
